Because that means you've lost someone you love — or you're walking alongside someone who has. GriefKit is a free space for answers, support, and the knowledge that you are not alone.
There is an incredible community out there, tied by the most human connection we all share. We will all lose people we love — often too soon. But what remains is the bond between us. The way we show up for each other, pick up the pieces together, and find a path forward.
Grief Kit exists to give you a place to start — for the emotional waves, the overwhelming paperwork, and the quiet moments when you just need to know someone understands. It is completely free, and it always will be.
Robert "Bob" Steinkrauss was a family man first and foremost — always. A planner, a problem-solver, and the kind of dad who'd be sitting on the beach in Cape Cod on a perfect summer day, clicking away on his calculator. He took calculated risks, always had a backup plan, and worked incredibly hard to take care of the people he loved.
He passed away in April 2022, unexpectedly, following surgery for stage 1 lung cancer. He left behind a family that will never be the same — and a daughter who channeled her grief into building the resource she wishes her family had.
This site exists because of him. For him. And for every family navigating the chaos that follows a loss they never saw coming.
In loving memory of Bob ♡"Humility and confidence. The team succeeds not individually, but as an all-encompassing group — and you always need to show confidence daily in all discussions, so the team will feel that the task can be accomplished."
— Bob Steinkrauss, on what makes a great leaderScroll through some of our favorite moments with him.
